The Department of Visual Arts at the Universty of Louisiana at Lafayette is please to announce the opening of the juried exhibition Here/Now in the Fletcher Hall Art Gallery. 

The exhibition, open to currently enrolled at UL Lafayette Students with a declared major or minor in Visual Arts or Art, features original artwork by UL students. This years juror, Vitus Shell.

Shell is a mixed-media collage painter born in Monroe, LA, where he lives and works. His work is geared toward the black experience, giving agency to people from this community through powerful images deconstructing, sampling, and remixing identity, civil rights, and contemporary black culture. He received a BFA from Memphis College of Art, 2000 and an MFA from the University of Mississippi, 2008.

The exhibition is an excellent example of work coming from the studio classes in the Department of Visual Arts and features work from all concentration areas. The show is open to the public from March 17th to the 31st. 

The Fletcher Hall Art Gallery is located in Fletcher Hall on the second floor. The address is 421 East Lewis Street in Lafayette, LA and is open fon Monday – Thursday 9 – 5 PM, and Fridays 9 – 12 PM.
