The Department of Visual Arts at UL Lafayette is pleased to announce Lauren Duffy is the recipeient of the SPARK Young Alumni award for the College of the Arts. Duffy is an artist and educator, working at Northland College in Ashland, Wisconson, teaching ceramics classes as well as art history. She graduated form the UL Lafayette in 2008, finishing Suma Cum Laude with a concentration in ceramics, and completed her master's degree in 2012 at Indiana Univerisity. Duffy believes that creativity is an essential human condition and that each artist must be open to failure in their process. It is through those acts of discovery that lead artists to the  ultimate goal: communicate core thoughts and beliefs through visual art.

Join Duffy at her gallery reception for, "Hanging Weight & Portraits of a Place lin the Dean's Gallery in Fletcher Hall Wednesday, November 10th from 3:30 to 5pm.

She will also be speaking at 10am on Wednesday November 10th in Fletcher 134 and hosting a workshop for students later in the day.
