Printmaking Workshop with Phil Sanders, September 15th and 16th, Fletcher Hall

Phil Sanders will be at Marais Press on September 15-16th working with professor Brian Kelly and printmaking students in the production of a lithograph. Sanders and Marias Press will be working on the production on the lithograph on both September 15th and 16th from 9:00-5:00. The printmaking studio is located in Fletcher Hall room 301. The shop will be open to the public during this time.

Sanders will also give a lecture on September 16th from 7:00-8:00 at the UL LITE Center. Sanders lecture will foucus on Marais Press and the role of university based fine art publishing presses. This lecture is sponsored by the Hilliard Art Museum and is part of their Annual John Bartholomew Bienvenue lecture series. The evening will also celerbrate the release of the Marais Press exhibition catalog. Sander's lecture will be at the University of Louisiana LITE center. The LITE center is located 537 Cajundome Boulevard in Lafayette Lousiana. This lecture is open to the public during this time.

Sanders formerly served as the COO of The Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts in New York City and Director/Master Printer of its program Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop. Prior to his career at EFA, Sanders was the Master Printer/ Studio Director for Universal Limited Art Editions (ULAE) where he worked with such celebrated artists as James Siena, Terry Winters, Kiki Smith, Elizabeth Murray, Carroll Dunham, Jasper Johns, and Helen Frankenthaler, among others.

Sanders has worked as a collaborative Master Printer for more than twenty years, working with hundreds of artists and producing thousands of prints, many of which are housed in the public collections of: The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Modern Art, Whitney Museum of American Art, Library of Congress, Davis Museum, and Yale University Art Gallery, among others.

Sanders has taught studio art and art business courses at Stanford University, San Francisco State University, and Penland School of Crafts, and trained printers at David Krut Workshop in Johannesburg, South Africa, Flying Horse Editions in Orlando, FL, and Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop in New York City. Sanders regularly lectures and teaches workshops on art, printmaking, collecting, and the business of art.
