University of Louisiana at Lafayette Department of Visual Arts Marais Press proudly welcomes Visiting Artist Catherine Chauvin, Associate Professor of Art at the University of Denver from October 18th-22nd.

Catherine will work alongside Visual Arts students at Marais Press, UL Lafayette’s printmaking studio, from Monday, Oct. 18, through Friday, October 22nd., from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Marais Press is located in Fletcher Hall, room 301.

Catherine will present an hour-long lecture that will begin at 11:15 on October 21st in Fletcher Hall, room 301. Both the printmaking studio and the lecture are open to the public.

Catherine Chauvin is a collaborative printer and artist who currently is an Associate Professor of Printmaking at the University of Denver in Colorado.

She earned a Tamarind Master Printer Certificate (TMP), Lithography/ Printmaking, in 1998, received a MFA in Fine Art/Studio Art/ Printmaking from Syracuse University in 1991, and a BFA in Studio Art / Printmaking from Miami University in1988.Cathrines prints and other work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and she has been a visiting artist and has residencies in New Zealand, Greece, and throughout the United States.

Before moving to Denver, Catherine served as Master Printer and Director of P.R.I.N.T Press at the University of North Texas (2000 to 2006) and Anderson Ranch Arts Center (ARAC) in Snowmass Village, Colorado(1998-2000). Catherine has worked with nationally and internationally renowned artists such as Enrique Chagoya, Kiki Smith, Jaune Quick-to-See-Smith, William Wiley, Terry Allen, and James Surls.

The Department of Visual Arts at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette offers concentrations in traditional areas of art leading to the professional Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. Fields of study include: animation and computer arts, ceramics, graphic design,  media arts, metalwork and jewelry, painting, photography, printmaking and sculpture.
